Do you want to know how to search with Google without having to pour through all the extra results?
Are you wondering how to find exactly what you’re searching for in Google and other search engines?
Howdy everyone and welcome back!
In today’s post we will take a look at how and why search engines like Google and Bing display search results to people who enter a keyword into their search bars.
This will be a quick post that shows you how to cut through all the irrelevant results that the search engines give you and hopefully save you a little time on your next search.
So without further ado, let’s get right to it.
How to search with Google & other search engines – The easy way!
First off, let’s take a quick look at how and why search engines show you the results that they do.
First and foremost, it’s important to understand that search engines are businesses and like any other business their goal is to make money.
This is why when you type in a keyword, the first results you will see is from their customers who have paid for advertising.
After the ads, the next results you will see is from websites that have published articles who they feel are the most relevant to your search query.
There are also a lot of other factors that go into the process of determining the order of the results they display. Some of the factors are things like; domain authority, site age & domain trust.
Authority and trust are things that websites gain over time. Basically, a website has to prove to Google that they know what they’re talking about.
In a search engines eyes, they want to send their customers to websites that they feel will give give them the best information.
I have no problem with these practices whatsoever.
However, what happens is that most people never go beyond the first page of the search results. This means that an article that could be exactly what someone is looking for may never be seen because the search engine has determined the relevance of the search results for them.
Next up, I will show you a little trick that will help you find articles that were written about the exact keyword (Search term) that you are looking for.
Find exactly what you’re looking for in search engines.
This is very easy to do and takes just a second.
By simply putting quotation marks around your search entry is going to drastically reduce the amount of search results you are going to see.
Let’s take look at a couple of examples of how putting quotes around your keywords effect the results.
Let’ say you are looking for advice on ” how to buy a baseball glove for kids.”
When you enter this search term into your search bar, Google will present you with over 1 million results.
Now lets see what happens when we put quotes around our search term.
As you can see in the image above, we have reduced the number of results from over 1 million all the way down to 6.
The results have been narrowed down to the exact search term we entered.
Now lets say someone is interested in learning about affiliate marketing, so they enter the search term “what is the best affiliate marketing training course.”
What they will get is about 14 million results.
Now lets throw some quotes around our keyword and see how much we can reduce the amount of results.
The quotes have gotten rid of over 14 million results and narrowed our search down to articles that have been written to specifically cater to our search entry.
How to search in Google – Wrap it up.
Whether you use Google, Bing or any other search engine, by simply putting quotes around the keyword (search term) you enter will greatly reduce the amount of results you will see.
This will allow you to get right to the articles that will be laser targeted to your search.
Often times the search engines will give you results that are similar to the term you enter, but by adding quotes to your entry, you are sure to get results that will answer your question specifically.
